FG knot

The thinnest braid-to-leader join, it slips through the guides. Demanding, but nothing holds better.

Tying it

1. 1

   Step 1: Keep the braid under tension (around a knee or a rod).

   Step 2: Weave the leader alternately over and under the braid, about twenty times.

3. 3

   Step 3: Lock the weave with two half hitches on the braid.

4. 4

   Step 4: Finish with three to four half hitches around both strands.

5. 5

   Step 5: Wet, tighten hard and trim both tag ends flush.

Always wet a knot before tightening it: dry friction burns the line and costs a good part of its strength.
