Palomar knot

The most reliable knot for braid on a hook or lure. Few turns, almost no strength lost.

Tying it

   Step 1: Double about 15 cm of line and pass the loop through the eye.

   Step 2: Tie a loose overhand knot with the doubled line — keep the loop open.

3. 3

   Step 3: Pass the loop over the whole hook, then pull both ends apart.

   Step 4: Wet the knot, tighten steadily and trim the tag end.

Always wet a knot before tightening it: dry friction burns the line and costs a good part of its strength.
