Rapala loop knot

Leaves a free loop at the eye: the lure keeps all its action. The knot for hard baits.

Tying it

1. 1

   Step 1: Tie a loose overhand knot 15 cm from the end.

2. 2

   Step 2: Pass the tag end through the eye, then back through that overhand knot.

3. 3

   Step 3: Make three turns around the standing line.

4. 4

   Step 4: Come back through the overhand knot, then through the loop just formed.

5. 5

   Step 5: Wet, tighten gently to keep the loop open, and trim.

Always wet a knot before tightening it: dry friction burns the line and costs a good part of its strength.
